South Platte river fishing tips…?

( I am not fly fishing) but I am really new to river fishing. I am fishing for rainbow and brown trout. What should I use that will work really good? I tried spinners and other lures and no luck. I am going to try fly fishing but right now all I have is a spinning reel. If I use flies what would be the (best) way to set it up on my line? -Thanks =)

Brown Trout Fishing Tips?

I am headed down to Alberta in July, and the place I will be staying at mentioned that I should bring along my fishing rod.
My family owns a large Ontario fishing resort, so I am no stranger to fishing bass, but I have very little trout fishing experience.
From what I have read, the river is full of browns, but alongside that , I read that they are difficult to catch.

I would be bringing my light-action St Croix rod & reel, that I use for bass & pike fishing. I do not have access, or interest to go and buy a fly rod & gear as it is only a possibility that I will have time to drop a line in.

My original thought was to take a small-medium sized hook, dig up a worm, and fish it like panfish, but I have no idea if that will work or not.

If you guys have any thoughts or tips it would be greatly appreciated!

Oh.. and time of day… probably either early morning and after six.
Does anybody know how flying with tackle works?
Obviously I cant carry-on, but If I am bringing bigger-used lures do I need to do something to them?

And mepps maybe? like a one or a two?

Fishing tips middle of summer – early fall?

I live in Colorado, I am a trout fisherman but to catch trout lately I have to travel a long way. The lake I fish in is a good place to fish but the trout fishing has slowed down a lot. The catfish, bass, walleye, and crappie are biting very well though but I am mainly focused on just catching any fish again. From middle summer to early fall whats the best bait and locations for any of those fish. Thanks anything helps I just want to start catching fish again. ( I am not fly fishing, bait fishing)

Any Erie steelhead fishing tips for this time of year?

Heading up this upcoming weekend to some streams in Erie, pretty much right by the lake.

I’m somewhat new at all this and I was wondering if anybody has any tips when it comes to the type of bait that could work well this time of year.

- I’m not fly fishing.

Any type/color of little jigs work? I’ve mainly used salmon eggs or wax worms the few times I’ve gone.

anything helps. The more knolage the better.
I have trouble getting the fly and leader away from the fly line because the fly line hits the water it is in a straight line but the leader and fly just bundles up right at the tip i was thinking it was my casting method or the fly line I hope that explains it better.

I just started fly fishing the South Platte, what are some local tips?

Tips for trout fishing in central PA??

I am going to be in central PA towards the end of August and would love to hook into a trout while I’m there. I will not be fly fishing to accomplish because that’s something I’ve never done. What would be some lures or baits that would give me a good chance at hooking one? Any other tips would be great as well. I plan on using a micro reel and rod combo but if something else would work better please give feedback. Thanks.
