Welcome to the 21st Century! The new Scott G2 fly rod is a modernization of an old classic. The guys at Scott Fly Rods took what was once THE classic dry fly rod, stepped it up with new materials and modern design to develop a dry fly rod that give you, the angler, the control of where your fly is going. Yes, it is still the sweet, soft casting rod but now it has the punch needed to be as technical as you want. Yes, it still has the tippet protection of old, but it has the muscle to control any drift pattern you can find. The new G2 fly rod is more than just a tightened up G series, it is a rod of purpose and that purpose is to catch trout. www.flyfishingoutfitters.com

If you like to sneak up on your trout like Wile E. Coyote, but without the calamity, then you need one of the new G. Loomis WhisperCreek Series Fly Rods. These special-purpose fly rods are designed specifically for short, yet accurate casts with soft presentations. When fly fishing on very clear or shallow water, too many false casts or one poor landing of your cast can ruin the whole pool. You might as well go back to your car for another cup of coffee! These Whispercreek rods are not the willowy branches of old, but medium action rods with zip that give you control over the destiny of where your fly is headed. Through the power of GLX graphite, World Casting Champion Steve Rajeff and the folks at G. Loomis created a special casting dry fly rod that is perfect for small creeks and gin clear springs and fishing with ultra-thin tippets and tiny flies. The WhisperCreek Series fly rods bring a purpose to medium-action fly rods and pleasure back into your fly fishing. www.flyfishingoutfitters.com

From everything I’ve looked up, I see that there are a couple different kinds of tackle used for fly fishing, Line Backing, Line, leader, tippet, and i think that’s it. For line backing, do you fill your entire spool with backing? half of the spool? would you put half backing/half line? and how strong should each be, for example, should the backing be stronger then the line, vice-versa, or should they just be the same? And finally, what are good backing/line brands? sorry for asking so many questions, I just really want to start fly fishing, to do something a little different from traditional spin tackle fishing.
