If you were fishing a tournament (and wanted to win) which would you choose?

In this hypothetical Bass T you could only choose between a quiver of Fly-rod outfits, Baitcasting outfits or Spinning outfits.
Here’s the catch- The T is held on Lake George, FL in April. You have access to the St. Johns River AND various Lakes that connect to Lake George.
(You should probably investigate Lake G a bit before making your decision.)
And like I mentioned before- You want to WIN!
Have fun!

rev.docholidayon 30 Jul 2010 at 8:00 am 2Fky rod without a doubt.
Don Son 30 Jul 2010 at 8:29 am 3I am assuming it is an artificial bait tourney. I would go with a baitcaster. I would fish the beds in April on Lake George or St. Johns. I have fished there a couple times. Nice area. you could go to other lakes but there are fish a plenty in the river and the lake. Big fish too.
Of course you catch more big fish there using golden shiners (live bait) I would lean toward swim baits and if nothing, start working to smaller baits until i got a little action. Work the beds with plastics. Lizards a good bet around the beds.
FishingQnAon 30 Jul 2010 at 9:14 am 4A baitcaster or a spinning rod is going to give you the most lure options to fish with. The reason being is with a baitcaster and a spinning rod you can fish all levels or the water column. You can fish topwater, sub surface or even bounch baits off the bottom. With a flyrod you are much more limited.
Fuck u tooon 30 Jul 2010 at 9:54 am 5it would use a 5 foot rod and a spinning outfit best weight would be between 12-20lbs also use a spinner bait if bass fishing
Grand Master Basser®on 30 Jul 2010 at 10:45 am 6I’d go with a couple baitcasting outfits, one loaded with fifteen-pound mono fishing the shallows with plastic lizards resembling a salamander and looking for spawning fish sitting on their nests, and the other, my swimbait outfit for tossing heavy bluegill swimbaits.
I might even consider using a live shiner about ten or twelve inches long if I can get away with it.
Backwater Charlieon 30 Jul 2010 at 11:21 am 7THIS time of year? Baitcasting outfits, most of them with various Jigs tied on. 1/2oz, some with 3″ chigger craws, and some with 4″ craws. Some being Bass Pro football head jigs and others being regular round head Strike King jigs.
Unknown Truthon 30 Jul 2010 at 12:06 pm 8I would go with spinning outfit. It works great all the time, and like you said, I would want to win. During this time of year (April) you don’t have to cast out to the other side of the lake, and your wrist don’t hurt so much from using it, plus I just love using a spinning set. Yes I also like to use baitcasters and fly rods, but I’m sticking to old faithful for me; another good reason is during this time of year, I always seem to be hooking into those bigger fish, and I like to play them in.
pheasant tailon 30 Jul 2010 at 12:49 pm 9Fly Rod: Clouser Minnows, Wooly Boogers, Sirloins, and all big streamers. No doubt in my mind….
I want AIRFLOW as my partner
BOBBERon 30 Jul 2010 at 1:33 pm 10I would go with a med heavy spinning outfit with braid line as it is both sinsitive and strong.
The Carp Masteron 30 Jul 2010 at 2:03 pm 11Spinning outfits all the way. I can’t use a Baitcaster or Fly-rod so I’d have to go with the Spinning rod & reel.
The Wormiston 30 Jul 2010 at 2:16 pm 12not much point in shelling out cash to enter if one doesn’t plan or want to win.
with that in mind, l would use my medium and heavier baitcasting gear. soft plastics.
l also might try a lure colored to resemble the blue crabs found there. l’m pretty certain they would be a forage for the bass.
or fish that eelgrass with a shiner imitation in spring.
sounds like a destination l would like to try!
