FishSteelheadon 08 Feb 2010 at 1:47 pm 1I use a needle nose pliers with a steady push workin’ it up. It bein’ a ready ta’ fish rod (?) it should be the correct size, however it may not be?Try this link. For future reference : No knot eyelets usually give correct size specifications, for which diameter and type line you’d be usin’. Good luck

Douglas Hon 08 Feb 2010 at 1:54 pm 2I reccomend throwing the no knot eyelets away and learn to tie nail knots. Eyelets are inferior and can actually cause your tip to sink.
Tom Kon 08 Feb 2010 at 2:21 pm 3Douglas has it, or there are also tapered plastic connectors that you push the line and leader into from opposite ends, then tie a jam knot in each and pull it tight. They are also available in fluorescent and serve as a strike indicator.
Injunon 08 Feb 2010 at 2:51 pm 4Good answer already but may I ad!The bigger no knot is for the floating line and small for the tappered just a quick note to help!
Also make very sure you insert it straight as possible so not to puncture side of fly line.
Or as said the nail or blood knot!
Sagefisheron 08 Feb 2010 at 2:52 pm 5Grab some spare heavy leader material and learn to tie the nail knot onto a thicker piece of leader. When you get it down, use the butt section of your leader and tie a nail knot onto the end of your line.
By the way, if you would buy yourself a nail knot tool you will thank yourself many times over for having done so. They are great tools to own. Cabela’s calls them Tie Fast Knot Tying Tools:

or use this shorter link: http://tinyurl.com/2b8cgy
Here is Grog’s animated knot demo for the nail knot:

If there is any doubt about that nail knot or you want to really make sure the leader will stay on, then when you tie the nail knot leave about 10 inches hanging out on the tag end side of the knot. Then tie a second nail knot about a half inch to one inch above the first nail knot. You will not loose that leader or later on the loop to loop connector that way.
When that leader starts to get destroyed, leave about 10 inches of the leader tied to your fly line and cut off the rest.
Then tie a perfection loop onto the end of that butt section and now you have a permanent loop for loop to loop connections. You only want the overall length of that section to be about 4 inches.
Perfection loop knot:

Now you need to practice casting.
Good luck.
