How do you determine what to use if there is no hatches at a couple ponds I know . There’s nothing buzzing around them . So what would I use for ponds and lakes .?

when i go i usually use crankbaits not to big or not to small but pick a light or goden color perferable a rainbow trout color and not a bomber lure kinda to big.

If there are no flies evident, then I would try one of the following:

Black, olive, brown, or burgundy colored wooly bugger (leeches) size 6-8
Olive or tan damselfly nymph (damselflies) 10-14
    Olive dragonfly nymph (dragonflies) 10-8
Hares ear soft hackle (caddis or mayflies) 10-14
    Zebra Midge pupae (midges) 18-20
    olive or tan scud 14-16
    Muddler Minnow- 6-8

    Good luck
