Posted by admin on Saturday, November 28th, 2009

I am kinda new to fly fishing for trout on Scottish Lochs
I would appriciate any advice on what kind of flies might work.
And maybe some advice on retrieving technics for each fly.
Thanks in advance.

There are lots you can use, firstly a team of diawl Bach’s and bibios fished on a 12ft fluorocarbon leader and on times i have used a muddler as a point fly, but not often, fish it on a sink tip or an intermediate line. Then the favorite of many anglers the washing line set up. Two droppers and a floating point fly, for a point fly a coral booby is an excellent fly to try, for droppers i like skinny buzzers and epoxy buzzers, a jerky slow retrieve works best here, use a co-polymer leader for this. I suggest you try a fishing magazine such as trout fisherman for more advice and whats best at the moment. Also when a mayfly hatch is present you may want to try a dry mayfly fished slowly and singly on a floating line in late afternoon.

You may also want to try a floating fry imatation a little later on in the year like this onehttp://www.fastmailtackle.co.uk/2258.htm…
