Does Anyone Know About Fly Fishing Rods?

Posted by admin on Friday, December 11th, 2009

I have a fly fishing rod that I would like to sell but am not sure about it. It was given to me as a gift many years ago and I have yet to use it so I have opted to try to sell it however, there is not a company logo on it. Which leaves me to believe it may be custom made which is likely since it was given to me by a person that makes fly reels. It is very dark green, bamboo handles with silver end and black graphite (I think) where the reel goes. The only writing seems to be handwritten stating 9′ 6wt. in silver then up the rod the same silver handwritting states 15″, 18″ 21″. If anyone has any info that may be helpful I would greatly appreciate it.

Its a shame when something you receive as a gift has to be sold, however since you state no brand name its value is very difficult to predict without actually looking at the rod, its a six weight rod meaning its generally a good all round rod and should be easily able to handle a six weight line, chances are its a tip action rod, however if it is custom built for you and if you have very little experience the chances are that the builder has chosen a blank that is of middle to tip action to make casting for you easier, also the handles will be cork not bamboo, unless of course you mean that the rod blank is bamboo at which you could be looking at a good price for it, why not take up fly fishing and make some use out of it, if you do sell it on ebay i would very much like to see how much it sells for and any pictures of it.

If it is handmade, keep it. It was a personal gift for you and no one else. Try fly fishing, it is really relaxing (to me).
