Are There Any Lures Available For Rods (not Fly-fishing Rods) That Float On The Top Of The Water?

If so, please give me information on what fish are best to catch this way, where, and methods. (shallows, deep waters etc.) Give me information to the brim. I am a beginner trying to learn all I can and would very much appreciate the help.

Floating lures I’ve found to be best for both large and small mouth bass, but since I’m not much of a bass fisherman (except for striped bass), I don’t have much use for them or a lot of experience.

Like all lures they’re mainly used for catching predatory fish, such as Pike, Perch & Bass…. see this British article on the subject: http://www.esox.co.uk/new_page_22.htm
If you really want to learn as much as possible about fishing, I suggest investing in copies of:
John Bailey’s Complete Guide to freshwater fishinghttp://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN…
The NEW Encylopedia of Fishinghttp://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN…
and

Just a twitch or 2 then let it rest for a few seconds…then twitch then rest…then BOOYAH BABY. It is very important to let the fish take the lure for a second before setting the hook hard otherwise is you react too quickly you’ll just pull it away from him or out of his mouth. Other great topwater lures are “devils horse”, Jitterbug, Chug Bug, Zara Spook and many many more. Tight Lines!!
